Killossery Riding Club, who previously won the title back in 2018, have qualified for the AIRC Team Show Jumping Championship final at the Dublin Horse Show in August after they ran out victors last Sunday.
14 teams, representing 8 clubs took part in the qualifier at Killossery Lodge Stud, Co. Dublin for clubs in the North East.
Just two teams kept a clean sheet after the opening round over Louise Moore’s 12-fence track including Castle Hill and Killossery. Ashbrook was just off the pace with one-time penalty in third while Ard Lu, another Killossery team, and another Ard Lu team filled fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively at the halfway stage.
Further clear rounds from Patricia Foley (Killeagh Of Ballyglass), Alice Gormley (Meko), and Lisa Baker (Dunsoughly Nelson) meant their captain Brian Cassidy (Looks Easy) wasn’t required as they completed the competition on a zero tally, and deserving winners after Castle Hill dropped down to third place.
The Ashbrook team of Megan Heeney (Good News Charlie), Anne O’Dowd (Until Proven Guilty), Shauna Kidd (Good News Scotty), and Jenny Doran (Horseplay Clover Star) also registered clear rounds to move up to second place with just one-time penalty.
Castle Hill was third on 4 penalties ahead of Killossery (8) in fourth ahead of two Ard Lu teams in fifth and sixth.
Killossery will now go forward to the final in August while Ashbrook will contest the wild card qualifier at next month’s AIRC Riding Clubs Festival.
