Springmount Riding Club will make its third appearance in the final of the Horseware Team Show Jumping Championship after the Galway based club won the West qualifier last Sunday.
22 teams, representing 11, clubs took part in the qualifier at Tubberbridge Stables in Sligo where Richard Kerins set out the challenge over 11 fences with 13 jumping efforts.
Springmount was among the leading pack after the opening round which also included teams from Benbulben and Corrib. Galway and Tynagh were just off the pace one a time penalty each.
It came down to a two-way jump-off between Springmount and the hosts, Benbulben, after the second round as Corrib had to settle for third place.
Deirdre Dolan was first in the arena for the Benbulben club on Bonnie Miss Sarco but was unfortunately eliminated at the second from home.
Martin Flesk opted for the slow steady clear round on Killuppaun Magic for the Springmount club which the captain duly delivered in a time of 47.90
The Springmount team of Janna Duane (Fairlady), Laura Corrigan (Ashwell Clover), Joanna Hyland (Queen Lu) and Martin Flesk (Killuppaun Magic) will make their clubs third appearance in the final in four years at the Dublin Horse Show.
The Benbulben quartet of Feargal Kilgarriff (Pot O Honey), Fiona Tansey (Talbots Lass), Breda Perrin (Erronagh Sky) and Deirdre Dolan (Bonnie Miss Sarco) will contest next months wildcard qualifier at the Riding Clubs Festival.
