Springmount Riding Club is through to the Horseware Team Show Jumping Championship final after a thrilling a six-way jump-off last Sunday.

24 teams congregated at the Tubberbride Stables in Sligo for the West region qualifier where three teams were out in front after the opening round including teams from Benbulben, Letterkenny and Springmount.

The leading pack grew to six teams after the second round forcing a six-way jump-off where Benbulben and Donegal Gaeltacht returned with 4 penalties.

Springmount captain Norman Tierney (Enzo De Reve) was fastest of the remaining riders to secure the Galway-based clubs place at the final at the Dublin Horse Show in July. Tierney was accompanied by Orla O’Brien (Fairfield Ruby Shoes), Janna Duane (Fairlady) and Joanna Hyland (Starr Amir).

Castle Carraig claimed the runners-up rosettes and will go forward to next months wildcard qualifier.
