Lilys Lucky Penny, ridden by Drynam’s Sophie Marks, won the Horse Sport Ireland sponsored working hunter championship at the AIRC Riding Clubs Festival at Mullingar Equestrian, Co. Westmeath on Sunday (9th June).
The 4-year-old chestnut mare had earlier won the Irish Draughts Working Hunter section before impressing the judges, Denise Colebrooke, Sharon Mannion, and Darragh Duggan, in the final.
Marks had a successful weekend with her homebred mare after they had won the Mares showing class the previous day while also picking up rosettes in the Irish Draught and four-year-old classes.
The Sadhbh Gannon-ridden, Dingle Bay (IRE), was named the reserve champion for Westport. The 7-year-old thoroughbred grey gelding was bred by Rockfield Farm.
