Treo Eile Bursary and Rug awarded at Connolly’s RED MILLS Show Jumping Championships

Sinead McNally (Mullaghmore) riding her horse Aughnamallagh Lady (IRE) was the highest placed Thoroughbred in the RC 90 Championship at last Sunday’s Connolly’s RED MILLS  National Show Jumping Championships in Mullingar Equestrian Centre.

Sinead said about her win, “I grew up with horses and my father, who has sadly passed away since, did his best with buying me horses and making sure I had everything I needed for them. I always had a passion for riding, so when my daughter started riding, I thought about getting my own horse, but I had major surgery to remove a tumour on my brain, so I was a bit sceptical about buying one as I had little confidence in myself and other things in case I was to have a bad fall. When I saw a man who was selling ex-racehorses who were going to the factory, I had my doubts about whether or not it would be safe. I went to go view Lexi and when I seen her, I just knew she was the one. I was extremely nervous about this, but Lexi and I clicked right away, so with a lot of challenges and vets, we have gotten where we are now, I am so proud of Lexi I never thought that we would have done as well as we have done. Lexi has helped me through the darkest times, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for both of us.  So, with hard work and dedication, anything is possible when you really put your mind to it. ”

Amy Gartland (Oakleaf) riding her horse Bella Miano (IRE) was the highest placed Thoroughbred in the RC 80 Championship.

Amy said about her win “Bella Milano (Duke) is a 15-year-old ex-racehorse that I rehomed through the Racing Academy last September. My first aim was to retrain him for showing, but along the way I discovered his real love for jumping. Since then, we’ve been working hard together, and it’s been so rewarding to see his progress.
I’m really proud of how far he’s come in such a short time, and I’m excited to keep going with him—my plan is to continue competing in more show jumping and showing classes in the future.
Thanks to the AIRC for hosting the National Show Jumping Championships in mullingar. It was such a great opportunity to get him jumping in a big environment. We had two good rounds and lots to improve on. As well, thanks to Treo Eile for sponsoring the bursary prize.
Today’s achievement definitely wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my trainers, Stephane and Patricia Myglynn. I’m so grateful for everything they’ve done for me and Duke. This is just the beginning of our journey together!”
