Libby Mooney with her horse Invincible Truth (IRE) (Letterkenny) was the highest placed Thoroughbred in the RC P2 Championship at last Sunday’s Connolly’s RED MILLS National Dressage Championships in Mullingar Equestrian Centre.
Libby said “Winning the Treo Eile training bursary at the AIRC National Dressage Championships is a huge moment for me and my mare, Invincible Truth. I got her from Goffs in 2022, and after pony racing we joined Letterkenny Riding Club in late 2024 to explore new disciplines. Truth is eager, honest, and always rises to the occasion—she’s a real pleasure to work with. She loves jumping, and I’m excited to start eventing with her. Thoroughbreds have always been part of my life, and Truth is a great example of how incredible they can be in their second careers.”

Valerie Crean with her horse Kildoon Trix (IRE) (Barrow Valley) was the highest placed Thoroughbred in the RC P3 Championship.
Valerie said ” Kildoon Trix aka Dex is just the most wonderful horse. He can turn his hoof to anything. We event, show jump, do some show classes and working hunter and also dressage. Hes now 16 years old but is still full of enthusiasm for our competition days. Thanks to Treo Eile, there are now many more opportunities for our ex racehorses. Its just fantastic that Treo Eile support AIRC at National and regional level. We had a lovely day in Mullingar last Sunday and while we didn’t figure in the top placings in our final , I was really happy with Dex and how he performed in his 2 tests.
Everyone should consider a thoroughbred , they have the brain, temperament, trust and courage to do any job from grassroots to elite level.”
Claire McCarthy with her horse Kitchen Duty (IRE) (Sarsfield) was the highest placed Thoroughbred in the RC Novice Championship.
Claire said ” I’ve had Kitchen Duty (aka “Fluffy”) for the past 3 years. She originally was a flat racer with John Bolger before moving to her second career as a Polocrosse horse where myself and herself played in a defensive position. We briefly did 3 unaffiliated events where we discovered that show jumping wasn’t her passion but she loved the dressage and cross country! It was only in the past year that we started retraining for dressage properly and I’m absolutely thrilled with her progress. She really tries her best to please and has such a sweet attitude – she’s typically loved by everyone that she meets. I honestly have never met a sweeter or calmer horse in my life and I’m super excited to continue our dressage journey together!”

Myriam Bunter with her horse Star Of Rubykan (IRE) (Killcarrick) was the highest placed Thoroughbred in the RC Elementary Championship.
Myriam said ” Star of Rubykan is a 12 year old ex racehorses who is owned by myriam for over 7 years. We did first some eventing and showjumping but he loves dressage and especially the Cameras. “

Treo Eile connects, supports and promotes second-career options for thoroughbreds when their racing careers are over.
Owners of thoroughbreds are asked to register their horses on www.treoeile.com (FOR FREE), as this data assists Treo Eile in obtaining the funding to provide these bursaries.
