Vanity Flare (IRE), ridden by Aileen Dwyer won the Horse Sport Ireland sponsored Carl Geisler Memorial championship for the supreme ridden horse at the AIRC Riding Clubs Festival at Mullingar Equestrian, Co. Westmeath recently on Saturday (10th June).
The 8-year-old bay mare had earlier impressed the judges in the riding horse class judged by Jane Bradbury, Emer Lalor, and Alan McNulty.
The Anvil rider went on to finish at the helm of the line-up in the ring 3 championship where she saw off Its Miller Time, who won the overall title in 2019. They were joined by Bee Smooth, ridden by Joy Murray, who won the Cobs class and Yukon Cristo, ridden by Sandra Hannigan who had earlier won the Four-Year-Olds showing.
After much deliberation in the championship final, however, the nod was given to the Derrymore House Syndicate bred Vanity Flare (IRE) ahead of reserve champion Bee Smooth.
Meanwhile, a Traditional Irish Cob won the Eddie Fowler Memorial championship for the best of breeds at the show where Mr Woo, a 16-year-old skewbald gelding, won under Vikki Jenkins from the Annaharvey club.
Reserve went to Aileen Dwyer’s Vanity Flare (IRE), an 8-year-old thoroughbred who had won the overall ridden showing title the previous day.
Elsewhere, The Frank Mangan Memorial championship was awarded to LLS Inspired, a 7-year-old bay gelding, ridden by Castle Carraig’s Katie O’Dea. The John O’Shea bred Irish Sport Horse had won the novice showing class earlier in the day.
The 6-year-old, Hurricane Harvey, took the reserve ribbon, after the Kieran O’Connor bred irish draught grey gelding won the RC Preliminary 1 showing class to make it through to the decider.
