Greenhills Riding Club has once again galloped to glory, clinching the coveted AIRC Team Show Jumping Championship title for the sixth time in the club’s proud history. This year’s victory cements Greenhills’ reputation as one of the most successful teams in the competition, adding to their impressive record of qualifications for the prestigious RDS.
Founded in 1983, the club enjoyed an especially sentimental win this year. Founding member Mary Kane celebrated from the sidelines as her daughter, Grainne Alexander, took the reins as chef d’équipe. Grainne herself has been a member of multiple winning Greenhills teams in the past.
The winning 2025 team included:
- Serena Alexander – Grainne’s daughter and Mary’s granddaughter.
- Shauna Delmer — a trainee accountant making her team debut.
- Eimear Darcy — a secondary school teacher, originally from Naas and now based in Dublin, who was the only competitor on the day to deliver a flawless double clear round aboard her ever-consistent gelding, Sharragh Watermill.
- Mia Browne (Team Captain) — just 18 years old and will be receiving her Leaving Certificate results later this month, who showed exceptional composure to jump a crucial clear round under immense pressure to secure the championship title.
Greenhills finished on a total score of 13, with 2023 champions Carrickmines close behind on 18 after posting three clear rounds in the second phase. Killossery claimed third on 21, followed by Nephine (25) in their first appearance, Knocknamana Country (28), and Boru’s (37), also making their championship debut.
“This victory means so much to our club,” said chef d’équipe Grainne Alexander. “It’s the result of teamwork, dedication, and a true love for the sport.”
A special thank you goes to Premier Performance, which sponsored all the regional and Wildcard qualifiers this year.
