Foxborough team wins close dressage qualifier as final team places secured

Foxborough Riding Club won the Team Dressage Championship Qualifier for the AIRC South Leinster region last Sunday after a tight contest at Spruce Lodge.

Six teams representing five clubs took part in the sweltering weather conditions along with around 65 individuals.

After the morning tests had been completed, the Hollybrook were just out in front of Foxborough with Brooke Lodge hot on their heels in third place.

At the end of the day, however, the top two places were reversed as the Foxborough team of Lorna Davenport (Beautiful Dreamer), Daphne Lush (Millpoint Carnival), Marie Comiskey (Rabawn O’Gorman) and Claire Kenny (Walter) securing the top spot on a score of 67.73%.

The runners-up from Hollybrook finished on a team total of 67.55% with the team consisting of team of Dervilla Glynn (Ballustree Oki Doki), Brigid McCarroll (Ballygriffin Leddy), Noelle Carroll (MaArdles Tow Tone) and Julianne McEvoy (Phillistown GCP).

It didn’t matter too much though as both teams qualified for next month’s Connolly’s Red Mills Team Dressage Championship.

Brooke Lodge took third place on 67.18% with Bel-Air in fourth, Greenvalley in fifth and another Bel-Air team in sixth.

The Arderin team of Caroline Purcell (Delilah KH), John Purcell (Glenbars French Connection), Denise Troy (Lowertown Miss Elsie) and Tina Goodenough (Merton Hall Lass) finished on a score of 426.33%.

This gave the Laois based club a 6 percent margin over the runners-up from Clonshire. The Limerick-based team, which consisted of Lorraine Mc Gowan (Clonshire Baltimore), Martha Buckley (Lady Rua), Deirdre Phillips (Lucky Moll) and
Mary O’ Sullivan (Misty Blue), finished on a total of 420.11%.
