Sunday 19th May 2025 , Kernans Equestrian Centre hosted by Mullaghmore R.C
The AIRC North East Regional Premier Performance show jumping qualifier moved North this year and was held at Kernans Equestrian Centre. Hosted and run by Mullaghmore Riding Club a fantastic day was had by all under blue skies and sunshine. Course Designer James Kernan built a fantastic track on the day for the 9 teams represented by 8 teams.
Judges Anne Friel and Laura Haughey were kept busy all day long in the judges box with each team jumping two rounds with the best 3 scores to count. After the first round 3 teams were on a score of zero and with time taken into consideration Cheval were lying 1st, Killossery Navy lying 2nd and Ashbrook lying 3rd. Every member on these teams jumped clear in the first round. It was all to play for in the second round where the competition got hotter! For the Killossery Navy team of Craig Ennis (Meko), Yvonne Layng (The Kiwi), Samantha Bretzer (Salander), Aoife Maguire (Pharos Hazy Cove) they finished on a score of 0 faults and took the golden ticket to the RDS. Team Captain Aoife Maguire could relax as no jump off was required. Killossery are no strangers to the RDS having qualified in recent years in 2014, 2015, 201, 2017, 2018, 2023 and now in 2025. Killossery won the final in 2015 and 2018. The Cheval team of Sandra Hannigan (Yukon Clover), Jemma Kendellen (Fortunus Pleasure), Tommy Parr (Irresistible) and Laura Carrick (Amura R) took the wild card and will go to the AIRC Festival to battle for the wild card spot to the RDS. Cheval finished on a total of 4 faults. In 3rd place was Castle Lesie, 4th place Ashbrook, 5th Place Border Counties and 6th Place Mullaghmore.
Congratulations to Killossery Navy team who will represent the region at the RDS and good luck to Team Cheval at the Wild Card Qualifier at the AIRC Festival. A huge thank you to Kerri-Anne Ryan from Mullaghmore and all her members for running a fantastic qualifier that ran to clock-work.
