Kilrainy Riding Club qualified for the final of the AIRC Team Show Jumping Championship at the Dublin Horse Show in August, for the first time since 2011.
11 teams representing seven clubs, contested the Midlands qualifier at Emerald Equestrian Centre last Sunday.
After the first round, just two teams were level on zero faults including Tara Hill and Kilrainy and this remained the case after the two rounds were completed as both teams maintained the pressure.
A two-way jump-off ensued where Kilrainy’s Peter Dargan (Ballivor Man) shaved 2.5 seconds off Tara Hill’s Sally Cunningham (Graf Landlord) to claim the spoils for the Kildare-based club.
The team of Evelyn Healion (Jersey Boy), Amy Dagg (Keithson Rises) and Mary Flynn (Balrowan Chilli Z), and Peter Dargan (Ballivor Man) will contest the final at the Dublin Horse Show in August.
Chris Carter (Cloonan Hector), Irene Noone (Miss Cruise Ship), Tom Mullen (SBT Upmarket), and Sally Cunningham (Graf Landlord) have another cut at qualification at next month’s AIRC Riding Clubs Festival.
