11 teams representing seven clubs from the Midlands Region contested the opening qualifier for the Team Dressage Championship at Emerald International on Sunday 28th April.
This meant three places were on offer for the championship decider in August.
The Mosstown team of Alice Whyte (Ardagh Epic), Emer O’ Donnell (Mosstown Tod), Sarah Phelan (Addrigoole Lightening Jack) and Thomasina O’ Reilly (Rosscon Camille) took the top spot on 217.61%.
This gave the Longford based club a healthy winning margin over second-placed Tara Hill team of Jane Brady (Cruicetown Isla), Janet Cooke (Louis Two Tone), Liisa Rantamaki (Happy Gilmore) and Susie Shekleton (Give Me A Reason) on 210.46%.
The Mullingar team of Carole Fagan (Royal George), Caroline Tobin (Columcille Hill) and Shane Broughal (Hello Miss Moneypenny) took the remaining qualification spot on 203.27%
Teams from Mosstown, Annaharvey, and Kilrainy filled the fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The top six riders in the advanced primary, intermediate and advanced intermediate classes who have qualified for the Dressage Championships in August have also been confirmed and are available at this link
Meanwhile, the organisers from Mo Chara Riding Club, raised €500 for the Irish Cancer Society after they ran a Dancer for Cancer event as part of Today FM’s national fundraiser.
The club staged an interval act at the show which involved dancers from all clubs who line danced to two Nathan Carter songs.
