7 Teams came to post for the South Leinster Region’s Dressage Qualifier held in Marlton on 5 July (there were 8 entered but unfortunately the Carrickmines Team had to pull out).
Three judges were given the task of judging on the day – Michael Moore (who has recently achieved List 1 status), Derval Diamond and Ruth Daunt. They had a difficult job as the standard was very even over all the grades. At the end of the morning tests, the Foxborough Blue Team just had the edge with 68.97% over Enniskerry with 68.2%. Foxborough retained their consistency in the afternoon, achieving 69.47% and reaching the clubhouse on a total of 69.22% and securing the first qualification place. However the second slot was more hotly contested as two of the Brooke Lodge team (Kim McCann (RCE) and Fran O’Neill (RCP3)), brought in scores over 70% which left them with an afternoon total of 70.39% and an overall total of 69.04% and the second slot at the Championships and relegating the Enniskerry crew to 3rd place. The scoring was so close that just over 1% separated the first 4 teams, with Hollybrook securing 4th. In the Individual Qualifiers, the RCN slot went to Harriet Aveling from Foxborough, with Mary Fenelon Bourke (Enniskerry)2nd and Amy Jo Peskens (Clonough) coming in 3rd. There was a large entry of 13 in the RCP3 Qualifier and the honours here went to Hollybrook’s Roisin MacMackin – she was followed by Brooke Lodge’s Ruth Ivory and Alison Vines (Enniskerry). Sara O’Loughlin (Killegar) won the RCP2 Section, while one of the visitors from outside the Region, Isobelle Gould (Barrow Valley) came 2nd with the 3rd slot going to Greenvalley’s Clara O’Donnell. Foxborough and Brooke Lodge will represent the Region in the Championships due to be held in Mullingar on 30 August.
