Greenhills will make a return visit to the Dublin Horse Show in August after they won the West Leinster qualifier of the Horseware Team Show Jumping Championship in a similar fashion to last year.
12 teams, representing 10 clubs, from around the region took on Chris Byrne’s challenging track at Coilog Equestrian last Sunday in a bid to qualify for the Dublin Horse Show.
After the first round, three teams – Moyglare, Greenhills and Winterdown – were level on a zero score while eight teams followed on eight penalties.
The Greenhills team of Clare Stanley (Countess of Kerry), Olwyn Butler (Santero), Roland Dalton (Mrs Maggie) and Grainne Alexander (Knockenpower Ginger) maintained their composure and were the only team to finish both rounds on a score of zero, booking their place in the championship final at the Dublin Horse Show.
The Moyglare club finished in the runners-up slot and will now contest the wild card qualifier at the Riding Clubs Festival in June, giving them a second opportunity to qualify for the finals.
