Following the success of the 70cm/80cm team show jumping challenge only 24 hours prior, the WLR committee was all set for show number two at the National Sports Arena – this time it was the 90cm/100cm RDS qualifier sponsored by Premier Performance.
With ideal weather conditions once again, the challenging yet flowing course walked, it was time for all 9 teams to tack up and have fun!
Gill Phipps of Calliaghstown was the first clear in round 1 of the day with a time of 94.16, setting the bar on what was to come. By the end of round 1 there were 4 teams level on a score of 0 – meaning that everything counted in the second round.
With victory on the horizon and electric energy from cheering supporters, Nuala O Neill and I Love You, Maryann from Killcarrick Purple had the first clear round of the second half with more and more to come. Greenhills 1 Mia Browne and Empress Nala were the very last duo in and also produced an excellent, clear round. With 5 teams level on 4 faults, it came down to optimum time to separate them into placings; however, there could only be one winner finishing the day on 0 faults, and that was Calliaghstown. It’s their second time going to the RDS in a number of years, so we want to wish them the very best of luck in the final. We will be there cheering them on!
Many congratulations to Moyglare, who go through to the Wildcard at the festival for another chance to go to the RDS.
