New President and Vice President elected at AIRC AGM

Leo Powell and Marie Crosse were elected to the roles of Honorary President and Vice President respectively at the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs last Saturday.

Three candidates were nominated for the position of Honorary President and after an election at the County Arms Hotel in Birr, Co. Offaly, the result was as follows:

Honorary President Election Result (9th February 2019)

  • Fiona Furey – 7 votes
  • Charles Maudlin – 14 votes
  • Leo Powell – 49 votes (Elected)

Marie Crosse was confirmed as Vice President after she was unopposed for the position.

Elsewhere, Tony Ennis was re-elected chairman of the Board of Directors for another one-year term while Thomas Daniels will serve as vice chairman after the Galway man was re-elected to the post for a second consecutive year.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Smyth was re-elected by the National Committee to serve another three-year term on the Board of Directors while Jan Musgrave filled the other available seat out of the five nominees who put their name forward on the ballot paper.

Board of Directors Election Result (9th February 2019)

  • Karyn Jamieson – 4 votes
  • Jan Musgrave – 15 votes (Elected)
  • Jane Power – 3 votes
  • Lawrence Smyth – 16 votes (Elected)
  • Maryclare Travers 6 votes

The elections took place prior to the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs at the County Arms Hotel in Birr, Co. Offaly.
