Team Ireland is in third place at the 2018 World Club Tournament at the Generali Open de France after the opening round which took place earlier this afternoon.
The Irish team, who were drawn third to jump, completed the day on 1 penalty and are behind the hosts, France who lead on zero while Belgium is in second place as they had a quicker accumulated time over Team Ireland in third.
Aisling Dargan got the team off to the perfect start with a clear round on Sky Starlet and this was followed by another clear from Claire Leahy on Diamond Discovery.
May Gilsenan provided the discard score after CJs Quest lowered three poles. while last to jump, Peter Dargan returned with one-time penalty to leave them team tied for second place on penalties with Belgium.
Morocco is hot on their heels in fourth place on 4 penalties while Mauritius follows on 5 penalties.
The competition continues tomorrow at 1pm Irish time where 14 nations will battle it out for the honours.
