Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) has announced details of its National Coaching and Breeding Conference which will take place on Tuesday, 28th November 2017 at Cavan Equestrian Centre.
This year, the conference will focus on horse and rider production for success and will feature internationally renowned equestrian professionals such as Rob Ehrens, Chef d’Equipe to the Dutch Show Jumping Team and Russell Guire; founder of Centaur Biomechanics.
Rob Ehrens is one of the most highly respected coaches in international show jumping. He has been Chef d’Equipe to the Dutch Senior Show Jumping Team for the last thirteen years, during which he has achieved incredible success with his teams. In the last five years, Rob has guided his riders to win eleven team and individual medals at World and European Championship level. A talented rider himself, Ehrens won the Calgary Grand Prix in 1980 as well as a World Cup Qualifier in Hertogenbosch. He was part of 5 European Championship teams as well as being a two-time Olympian representing his home country.
Russell Guire founded Centaur Biomechanics in 2006; a company which specialises in horse and rider performance analysis. Since then Russell has delivered presentations all over the world on the use and effectiveness of biomechanics in maintaining soundness in both horse and rider. For the last ten years, Russell has been working with the British Equestrian Federation (BEF), assisting riders on both the World Class Programme and Team GB. Russell provides video and biomechanical analysis to all disciplines – dressage, show jumping, eventing and para-equestrian dressage. More recently he has been investigating the effect that different saddles have on the horse and the interaction that the rider has with the horse’s movement and soundness.
Further speakers will be announced soon. The conference will address breeding, training, management and preparation of competition horses and riders for optimum performance in competition.
This event is a must-attend for all equine professionals, riders, farriers, coaches, competitors, instructors, equine students and anyone with an interest in horses.
