Four members of the National Committee have been nominated for election to the Executive Committee.
Dermot Brislane, Tony Ennis and Grainne Healy, who reached the end of their three-year term, are seeking re-election and will be joined on the ballot paper by former chairman Peter Roberts.
The National Committee shall hold an election prior to the Associations Annual General Meeting on Saturday to fill the vacancies.
Candidate Information:
Dermot Brislane
A member since 2001, having learned to ride at 22. A member of National Committee since 2006 and Executive Committee since 2011.
With no background in horses, the Association gave me a platform in which I could learn and develop my skills. I started as a Primary rider and progressed up to Advanced Intermediate, having won national titles along the way. I have made many great friends from clubs around the country.
As a vice principal, I wish to use my expertise and leadership skills to continue to great work we have been undertaking for the betterment of the Association.
Tony Ennis
Been involved with the Association for over 30 years in various capacities as a competitor, club secretary, regional secretary, regional chairman and was elected national chairman annually since 2003.
Since then I have worked tirelessly to develop and grow the Association. I oversaw the growth of our membership and oversaw the introduction of new initiatives such as volunteer awards, new national events (Hunter Trials), and opportunities to compete internationally (UK & France).
Our Association has a secure and solid foundation and I am seeking re-election to continue this great work so our members around the country will see the benefits.
Grainne Healy
I have been a member of Kilrainy Riding Club and regional secretary of the Midlands region for the last number of years. I was elected onto the National Committee in 2008 and the Executive Committee since 2010.
I feel strongly that the Association has a vital part to play in the promotion of horse riding at every level.
As such, I wish to continue to support the excellent work of the Association and help it to grow, adapt and overcome new challenges over the coming years.
Peter Roberts
Involved with the Association since 1998. Current chairman of the South Leinster region. Former national chairman (1997 to 2002). Former president (2004), member of National Committee since inception. Active competitor.
With almost 30 years active involvement with AIRC at club, regional and national level, I feel that I can bring a positive depth of knowledge and experience to the Executive from an administrative position and also from the ‘hands-on’ experience I have acquired at national and regional activities over the years.
I would welcome the opportunity to serve on the Executive to give something back to the Association.
