The weather conditions were ideal, cool but a bright morning on Sunday the 3rd of May at the National Sports Arena, North Dublin. Riders arrived to the picturesque location with excitement to take on the Foran’s Equine 70cm/80cm team showing jumping qualifier hosted by the West Leinster Region.
As the course walk began, the anticipation grew as our 4 teams made themselves familiar with the inviting track built by Shane Brooks. Calliaghstown’s Lisa Conway on Diamond Clover Roller was the first clear round of the day, setting the bar for other riders to follow. By the end of the first round, only 8 points separated the top two teams.
After a well-deserved break, the rider’s nerves had settled, and the fun was about to begin. With the cheering from their supporters, all they could do was kick on and kick on is what they did. Rachel Gaffey aboard Meadow Mo Chroi Z Diamond for Rathfarnham/Greenhills produced her second clear round, as did Abbeylands Capt Lauren Morgan and Killcarrick Capt Carolann Dowling.
Winning it for a second year in a row, Killcarrick will head to the National Championships in Mullingar in this July to take on the winners from the other regions. Congratulations to them!
They were presented with their Foran Equine goodie bags and rosettes by the West Leinster Secretary, Caroline Sullivan.
