Border Counties Riding Club are all set for the World Club Tournament Open de France Generali which begins this week.
The Monaghan based club, who were selected to represent the Association of Irish Riding Clubs (AIRC) at the tournament, arrived safely at the French Federation Parc for the four-day tournament which is a friendly international competition for riding clubs and schools from all over the world on Sunday.
The Irish team includes:
- Aaron Evans (Killmarney Sunny Jim)
- Roisin Ni Rioc (Colin Clover)
- Dean O’Neill (Rapide d’Elle)
- Amy Smyth (Mallard Spark)
Evans, Ni Rioc and Smyth are riding their own horses while O’Neill is riding a hired horse.
The team chef d’Equipe is Katie Smyth.
The competition will begin this evening with the parade of teams at 5:30 pm (Irish time) followed by the first round of the competition with the second round taking place tomorrow (Thursday).
Team Ireland has been drawn first to jump in this evenings competition with nations such as Belgium, Cambodia, Chile, Great Britain, India, Italy, Luxembourg, Morocco, Sweden, Turkey and the hosts, France.
