The AIRC West Midlands Region hosted a fantastic day of show jumping at Roscrea Equestrian Centre for the Foran’s Equine RC70 RC80 Team Show Jumping Qualifier, where competitive spirit, teamwork, and community support were on full display. Expertly built by course builder David Maher, the tracks offered riders a fair but technical challenge across both heights, with judges Emily Hogan and Mary O’Sullivan overseeing proceedings throughout the day.
The success of the event was made possible thanks to the dedicated volunteers from Anvil, Arderin, Devils Bit, Clonshire, and Golden Grove Riding Clubs, whose teamwork and enthusiasm ensured the qualifier ran smoothly from start to finish.
Claiming victory on the day was Golden Grove Riding Club, continuing an impressive run of form for the club. Having previously won this qualifier in 2024 before going on to secure second place in the national final, the club once again proved the strength and depth of its riders.
This year’s final will take on added significance, having moved from the Riding Club Festival to the Show Jumping Championships at Mullingar Equestrian Centre this July, setting the stage for an exciting championship atmosphere.
Golden Grove fielded a strong and stylish team, notably featuring three grey horses. Leading the line was new club member Lorraine McElroy riding her grey gelding, Harlequin Grey. Competing in her very first outing for the club, Lorraine made an immediate impact and settled seamlessly into the successful team environment.
Alongside her was original club member Eileen Landy aboard Golden Grange. Since the club’s establishment in 2021, Eileen has been a key supporter of Golden Grove and was delighted to return to the jumping arena after dedicating considerable time to dressage. Her experience and consistency played an important role in the team’s success.
The RC80 tracks were tackled by Andrea Woods and team captain Kayleigh Murphy. Andrea partnered with Showtime Willow, with the combination continuing to develop an exciting partnership following the mare’s recent purchase. Their confident round reflected the progress the pair has been making together.
Team captain Kayleigh Murphy completed the quartet aboard her bay mare You Too Bonnie. The pair is currently celebrating one year together, with Bonnie having returned successfully to competition life following her previous career as a broodmare. Kayleigh’s leadership and composed performance helped secure Golden Grove’s well-earned qualification.
With momentum firmly behind them, Golden Grove will now turn their attention to July’s championship final in Mullingar, where it will hope to build on their excellent record on the national stage.
