Louise Duffy becomes the first female chairperson of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs following a meeting of the Board of Directors on Tuesday night.
Duffy first joined the Association in 2003 and is currently a member of Copperfield Riding Club in Dublin. She has been an active member having volunteered at many events, has previously been a club and regional secretary, and currently enjoys being a showing judge.
Louise said she is honoured to be elected as the Association’s new chair, “I have always thoroughly enjoyed AIRC events both as a competitor and in a voluntary or judging role and I hope that, working with the Board and National Committee, we can continue to progress the organisation for the benefit of our members.”
Ann Bloomer took on the role of Vice Chairperson. The Mosstown member is currently secretary of the club and has been a member of the Board since first elected in 2022 and was a member of the recent Grading Advisory Working Group.
David Abbott, Director General of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs said, “This decision marks a significant milestone for our Association as Louise becomes the first female chair in our 51-year history. I would like to congratulate Louise and Ann on their new positions and wish them well in the year ahead.”
Both were elected unanimously at an online meeting held last night.
