Benbulben Riding Club secured a place at the final of the AIRC Team Jumping Championship at the Dublin Horse Show in August after a thrilling two-way jump-off last Sunday.
14 teams representing 8 clubs entered the latest qualifier in the series for the West region at Tubberbride Stables, Co. Sligo.
Benbulben and Burren were level after the two rounds of jumping to leave a jump-off to decide the top two places.
The Benbulben team of Zara McGovern (Floren), Anne Lawrence (Pot O Honey), Fiona Tansey (Talbots Lass) and their captain Louise Walsh (Doonaveeragh Claire) booked their place in the final after Walsh returned with a clear round over the shortened track in a time of 32.54.
The Burren club had to settle for the runners-up spot after their captain Geraldine McMahon knocked the second fence on Greenlough Hero. McMahon will be joined by her teammates for another opportunity to qualify at next month’s wild card qualifier at the AIRC Riding Clubs Festival.
