The 2019 Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) Coaching and Breeding Conference will focus on the production of young horses for all disciplines. It is an ideal opportunity for all breeders, producers, riders, and coaches to expand their knowledge and hear from some of the best in the business.
The guest panel includes British Senior Eventing High-Performance Manager Richard Waygood MBE, Irish Olympic dressage rider Judy Reynolds, and Dr Gerd Heuschmann, an expert in the optimal development and production of young horses to fulfill a competition career.
The day will focus on the breeding and production of young horses and will include a panel discussion with the three guest speakers and three practical ridden sessions. Irish dressage sensation Judy Reynolds will ride two of her upcoming young horses. Judy will ride one of her horses in a session with Richard Waygood.
During these sessions, the audience will be treated to a world-class display of horsemanship and the production of young horses. The sessions will be aimed towards all disciplines and address the need for all performance horses to have a solid foundation and understanding of the basics before moving up the ranks, regardless of the discipline.
Dr Gerd Heuschmann is an author, a professional rider, veterinarian and international lecturer. His focus will be on the importance of the correct training methods and the long-term impact of incorrect training methods on a horse’s potential.
Richard Waygood has extensive experience in both flatwork and eventing, having previously held the position of British Dressage High-Performance Manager before moving into the equivalent position in eventing. During his practical session, Waygood will coach riders through exercises to improve straightness both in flatwork and over fences for young jumping and eventing horses.
This is set to be a highly educational and insightful day and one not to be missed.
