The Connolly’s RED MILLS National Show Jumping Championship in July will operate under a new format.
In a change from previous years, the championship classes will now take the form a three-round competition where penalties are cumulative.
Competitors who are tied for first place on equality of penalties after the two rounds will jump-off against the clock (Optimum time for Primary and Advanced Primary) in a third round.
Minor placings, those below first place, will be decided by the competitor’s cumulative score from the two rounds with their time taken from their second round.
It should be noted that competitors who are eliminated or retire in the first round of the competition will not go forward to their second round.
There will no longer be a qualifier class with the top 16 going forward to the final as now competitors will jump two rounds instead.
There is no change to the derby classes, which remain as a one round, Table A competition.
