Four clubs are set to benefit from a combined total of €36,171 in funding under the 2018 Sports Capital Programme which was announced last night.
Barrow Valley Riding Club in Carlow is the biggest beneficiary as they are to receive €17,385 for a new set of show jumps and cross-country portable fences.
Nuenna Farm in Kilkenny is the next highest recipient after they were awarded €11,915 for a new set of show jumps along with a new trailer.
The Carlow based Coole Lane Riding Club has been granted €4,711 for timing equipment and for a dressage arena while Ashwood Riding Club was allocated €2,160 for a set of working hunter jumps.
Meanwhile, an allocation of €7,900 to Thomastown and District Riding Club was also confirmed for their previous application for cross-country jumps, dressage arenas and a defibrillator.
David Abbott, Director General of the Association, said,” I’m delighted to see this funding going to our affiliated clubs and this years allocation is significantly up, by around 60%, on the 2017 programme.”
Riding Clubs have benefitted to the tune of almost €85,000 for sports equipment since 2014 and I would encourage more clubs to get involved in this during the next round of the programme.
