This year, the conference will focus on horse and rider production for success and will feature internationally renowned equestrian professionals such as Rob Ehrens, Chef d’Equipe to the Dutch Show Jumping Team and Russell Guire; founder of Centaur Biomechanics. International event rider Andrew Hoy will also be in attendance. Hoy has an incredible competition record at the top level of eventing and has won four Olympic medals as well as four World Championship medals to date. He has an impressive string of horses currently competing at the top level of the sport and will discuss the breeding and production of potential top-level event horses for the future.
Also making an appearance will be well known veterinary surgeon Larry Dunne who will be on hand to discuss equine reproduction, retaining pregnancies in mares and the embryo transfer process.
Rob Ehrens is one of the most highly respected coaches in international show jumping. He has been Chef d’Equipe to the Dutch Senior Show Jumping Team for the last thirteen years, during which he has achieved incredible success with his teams. In the last five years, Rob has guided his riders to win eleven team and individual medals at World and European Championship level. A talented rider himself, Ehrens won the Calgary Grand Prix in 1980 as well as a World Cup Qualifier in Hertogenbosch. He was part of 5 European Championship teams as well as being a two-time Olympian representing his home country.
Russell Guire founded Centaur Biomechanics in 2006; a company which specialises in horse and rider performance analysis. Since then Russell has delivered presentations all over the world on the use and effectiveness of biomechanics in maintaining soundness in both horse and rider. For the last ten years, Russell has been working with the British Equestrian Federation (BEF), assisting riders on both the World Class Programme and Team GB. Russell provides video and biomechanical analysis to all disciplines – dressage, show jumping, eventing andpara-equestriann dressage. More recently he has been investigating the effect that different saddles have on the horse and the interaction that the rider has with the horse’s movement and soundness.
