On Tuesday, 29th April, the results of the Board of Directors election were announced at the National Committee Meeting.
Two positions were up for election. Long-standing Board member Jan Musgrave, from Knocknamana Country Riding Club in Cork, chose not to seek re-election. Jan has been a highly valued member of the Board, serving two terms with dedication and insight. Her contributions will be greatly missed. We are pleased to note that Jan will continue to serve on the National Committee.
Three nominees put their names forward for the two available Board positions: Vice Chairperson Ann Bloomer, Charles Maudlin from the West Region, and Marie Sheehan from the South West Region. Following a closely contested election, Ann Bloomer and Marie Sheehan were elected to the Board.
Ann Bloomer said about being re-elected, “I would just like to thank all the National Committee members who voted for me and assure them and our members that I will continue to work to the best of my abilities for the good of the association and its members. “
Marie Sheehan said about being elected for the 1st time, “I am delighted to be elected onto the AIRC board of directors. I have had fifteen years of fun, learning, friendship and challenge as a member of AIRC at club and regional level in my North Cork club, which is part of the South West Region. Being on the board means that now I can give something back at National level. The Association would not survive if it was not for the time and effort the volunteers of the board put in. When the opportunity to go forward for election came up, I didn’t quite jump at the opportunity “chomping at the bit”. But I did “walk the course,” talked to a few who had already jumped before me and decided I was ready to “upgrade”. Now that I have been elected, the plan is that my performance on the board will be “solid and forward-moving” like a trustworthy cross-country horse!!”
We congratulate both Ann and Marie on their success and look forward to their continued contributions to the organisation.
