Choltrai Riding Club has qualified for the final of the Connolly’s Red Mills Team Dressage Championship for the very first time.
The North County Dublin based club held off stiff competition from 11 teams representing eight clubs in the AIRC North East Region recently (Sunday 26th June) at the National Horse Sport Arena in Abbottstown, Co. Dublin.
Just five percent separated the top three teams with the Choltrai coming out on top on 425.02% where Katie Mc Nulty was the star performer for the winning team after, Killossery Andrex, a 21-year-old chestnut gelding, registered scores in excess of 70% in each test.
Orlaith Frawley also impressed the judges Father Dougal who registered 71.9% in her morning test. Casey Cunningham (Freeflow (a.k.a. The Earl Of Belvedere)) and Angela Flynn (Tequila Dun) completed the winning team with their worthy performances throughout the day.
Ard Lu Riding Club took the runners-up position after Hannah Rafferty (Anfield Tonic Touch),
Rosie Hollywood (Blitzens Dream), Bernadette Bennett (Castlerea Princess) and Elizabeth Moran Byrne (Edmunds Ella) finished on 423.01%.
Next best was Ashbrook’s Margaret Aughney (FCD Something Special), Laura Fitzsimons (Kilronan Duff), Carolina Gullberg (Lurganbawn Charlie) and Mairead Dolan (Master Touch) who took the final qualification spot for the team championship on 420.30%
Border Counties, Kilronan and another team from Ard Lu completed the top six after they finished in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
