Fantastic sunshine greeted riders at the South East regional team dressage qualifier sponsored by Connollys Red Mills on Sunday 23rd June at the pristine grounds of Fernhill Sport Horses in Co Kilkenny by kind permission of Carol Gee and her team. Each rider rode 2 tests under the watchful eyes of judges
Brona O Mahony and Ciara Egan.
Barrow Valley riders were out in force winning both the P1 (Jacqueline Kellet Bevan) and P2 (Isobelle Gould) classes. Carne rider Isabelle Rouviere took the red rosette in the P3 with her reliable partner Jasmine Van Ter Notalaere, with a great performance from Ruth Gibbons from Nuenna Farm in second place.
Eva Brennan from Thomastown & District held off the dual challenge from Tinahelys Rita Naughton and took first place in the RC N. Rita had to settle for second and third with both her horses.
Charlotte Clear was victorious in the RC E with the smart Rameses B whilst Roisin McGrath marked her very promising horse as one to watch for the future taking the young horse class.
Huge delight came from the Thomastown and district club as they took first place in the Connollys Red Mills Team dressage qualifier. In fact they had two teams in the top six on the day. No mean feat at all in a hotly-contested qualifier. Barrow Valley was hot on their heels with a resounding 2 place for this successful club whilst Carne was in third.
