Lismore Riding Club has qualified for the final of the AIRC Team Show Jumping Championship at Dublin Horse Show in August for the first time in the Clubs history.
Nine teams from six clubs contested the qualifier for clubs in the South West at Maryville Stables on Sunday 8th May last.
Three teams – Earl’s Well, Highland Lodge and Lismore – were all level after the opening round on zero with Knocknamana Country, North Cork, West Cork and two teams from Highland Lodge adrift on 4 penalties.
After the second round, the Lismore team of Sarah Kearney (Moonshine Diamond), Jennifer Maher (Cocktail Time), Liz Fenton (Coolnadane Mr Ed) and Stephanie Cunningham (Falconet Illusion) were the only team left with a clean sheet to secure their first-ever place at the final in August.
The Highland Lodge team of Amanda Horgan (Culleens Paddy), Maria Blomen (Mr Darcy Sir), Niall Buckley (Clonshire Zebo) and Mikey O’Connell (Scottie) will have a second chance at next month’s wildcard final at the AIRC Riding Clubs Festival.
