The Association of Irish Riding Clubs has been collaborating with Horse Sport Ireland in the area of leisure riding with the aim of developing a network of affordable and accessible equestrian trails similar to those in other European countries.
As part of the ongoing work, HSI believes that one of the fundamental steps in achieving progress in this area is to gather baseline data on the number of leisure riders in Ireland, document the activities they engage in and highlight the contribution they make to the economy, to develop and tease out opportunities for growth in this sector.
Currently, there is a complete lack of concrete data in this area, and it is the first time that a comprehensive survey like this has been commissioned.
This survey will be the first in a series of surveys and workshops to be carried out by HSI, in the field of non-competitive equestrian activities, and aims to gather much-needed information on leisure riding, either as a main past time or during non-competitive downtime.
The information gathered will go a long way to achieving better infrastructure for leisure riding and equestrian trail development.
The survey can be taken anonymously if you wish, but participants who provide their contact information will be entered in a draw to win one of 10 ‘HSI Goodie Bags’.
