A motion which was due to be voted on at the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs last night could not proceed after not enough clubs were represented.
Although a quorum (25%) was reached to enable the meeting to proceed in accordance with the Association’s constitution, 50% of clubs must vote on any motions or resolutions at the AGM.
61 clubs were required to vote on the matter by attending the meeting or by submitting a proxy form in advance but the numbers fell short of this as only 54 clubs were represented which meant the vote could not proceed.
Unfortunately, some clubs who were due to attend, didn’t make the meeting on the night.
The motion to be voted upon read as follows:
“No person may hold any position on any committee for more than two consecutive terms of three years. Following a term of six years the person must not reapply for that position for a minimum of three years.”
The Board is to seek further advice on the matter.
